  • Live your life

I don't know about you, but it feels increasingly like you have to do so much in your life just for the approval of others to point where its not really your life anymore - conforming your appearance to be accepted, playing team sports to be accepted, doing whatever anyone else is doing outside school just to seem cool. Is this the life that we're meant to be living? I get that sometimes we have to do what others want to get by, and its good to be cool i guess but it seems like we really need to take a step back and realize that life is short, and we've only got one to live. Its my advice, then, this sunday to start standing up more for what you believe in, in all forms of daily life, and living your life for you. This is particularly important for people like me, teenagers, because i know theres so much stress. So, in the end : before each day, think about the best version of the upcoming day and do everything or don't do everything to ensure that the day, when it finishes, is as close to your preferred version.

  • The house of Representatives has failed you, Americans

As you all probably know, the government takeover of healthcare and reduction of freedom bill just narrowly passed in the House of Representatives. This is a sad day for America, a sad day when the country that is beacon around the world for freedom to choose and freedom of opportunity passes this sweeping upgrade of government powers in it's people's daily lives. As a Conservative Republican with a majority of friends who are liberal Democrats, it's been hard to lay out my arguments. They have constantly berated me, as Obama and the state run/ Mainstream media as done to you, with the argument that everything will be fine and that this new bill will magically give everyone healthcare - a utopian ideal, basically. But what they fail to tell you about is the millions of dollars in new and obviously higher taxes that will be required to pay for this monstrosity, and the great new bureaucracy that will be put in place. Not only will you possibly be forced out of your current healthcare plan, you will be subject to rationing of drugs and less personal care because someone far that is supposed to believe in "hope" and "change" has decided that he and his cronies know better what you need and know better than you how to take care of you and your family. Instead of using common sense ideas such as being able to buy across state lines and reducing taxes on the middle class and reducing taxes on small businesses so that they can provide better healthcare for their employees (and keep them employed there for that matter), Obama and Pelosi have decided that they will ignore the American people's call for fairness, common sense and liberty and instead go the usual democrat way of "don't worry, we can do it for you. Just give us more of your hard earned money". I'm writing this post to open your eyes to reality, that it's time to stop treating Obama like god and that it's time to once again understand that limited government and personal liberty and responsibility are the ways that the unemployment rates will go down and more people can afford healthcare or better healthcare. We now look to the senate for some sense and morality. I hope they take a stand and stand up for whats right and vote for freedom rather than more government power - as I hope all you liberal democrats do when you read this.

  • Mid term elections: Think with your head

The mid term congressional elections are right around the corner, and the people will be voting soon. This is just message to all of you who will be voting: think with your head. I hope to god that you have got over Obama and have seen through his "hope, change and trust in me" rubbish. He is spending your children and grandchildren's money and does not care at all. The democrats doing what they have always done: increased the people's dependance on the government. In these mid term elections it is your chance to show the democrats in congress that you did not elect them last time to spend your money without thought, increase government power in all areas of your life (banks, care companies and now healthcare) and decrease your ability to get ahead and have more money so that you can provide better for your families. I know that Americans, and indeed people from every country, do not want the government and bureaucrats telling you what type of healthcare you can and cannot have. Being originally from Britain, I have studied and have knowledge of the National Health Service there (NHS). There is rationing and a general low standard of care - in short, Americans, you do not want this. Nor do you want, as I'm sure you have discovered by now, the kind of life that the democratic party is offering and will force down your throats without thought. It's time to put the conservative Republicans that are currently running for the house, senate and governorships of the US. They will help lower the deficit, lower taxes and increase freedom.

    Vote Republican!

Guns N' Roses and the Chinese Democracy Tour

    Hey,

With a tour dates announced in asia and Canada, with possible dates in the US and europe to follow, I thought i would re-post my review of their latest record, chinese democracy, to get hype up and also get people talking about the album because it really does deserve to be talked about, its a great record in my opinion. So........

It's finally here, the CD that has cost over 13 million dollars and 16 years to make. Firstly, was it worth the long wait? Perhaps not, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great CD. No record could live up to the hype, but "Chinese Democracy" tries it's hardest to and pretty much succeeds.

The first thing to think when listening to the record is that it's a new era of GN'R. Yes, The band is new apart from Axl Rose and Dizzy Reed and if you just think that it's bad because it doesn't sound like "appetite" remixed, then your really missing out because the new sound is great. Much more modern, with more electronic and funk influences on songs such as "If the world" (which was featured in the Russel Crowe & Leonardo DiCaprio film "body of lies, A great film by the way). But don't worry, Guns N' Roses haven't become a hip-hop group or anything - there are still plenty of hard rocking tunes on here such as the title track, "Better", "riad and the Bedouins","Scraped" and "I.R.S". On all of these songs, Axl Rose's classic piercing vocals are definitely present. The onslaught of age has barely affected him, you can only hear a slight deterioration here and there. You can still hear "Use your Illusion" influences with the piano ballad near the end of the CD ("This i love") which just features Rose on the piano till an awesome guitar solo kicks in.

My the best song on the record? The three best songs on the CD, in my opinion, are the songs "Better", "Madagascar" "Sorry". "Better" is a modern rocker which sees rose go from softer vocals to his classic metal yell. The second song is a slower, more experimental song but with classic "If you don't like me, you can kiss my ass" lyrics which I really like. A great song to get yourself psyched up to. It really makes you feel like "Come and get me, bitch" Plus, it probably has one of the best guitar solos of the record near the end of the song, which helps. The third best track is called "Madagascar". It's a GN'R epic, something like "Estranged" was. It starts off with this organ intro, then goes into classic Uber obtuse and abstract Axl lyrics. The greatest, and also the most strange thing, is that instead of your traditional guitar solo, theres a solo but with MLK's "i have a dream" and movie clip soundbites interspersed in it. It's quite cool if you get into it. To finish off, Is it worth your money? absolutely. Even if you were never a Guns N' Roses fan to begin with, I'm sure you will be when you finish Listening to this CD. There are tracks for all moods and occasions, so even the most casual fan will enjoy the record I think. This CD really shows that Axl has never lost it, as some people in the media like to claim. He has the talent to deserve to be in the pantheon of great rock n roll singers.

    Go buy "Chinese Democracy"!
